Reflecting on Change & Transition 𝌡 (25.06.23)

In recent interactions, it seems as if many of us are still in transition. We've had a challenging few years collectively, and even though things are somehow back to normal, it feels as if the effects of large events like Brexit and Covid still need to be integrated.

On top of that, our personal lives haven't stopped either, and we've continued to work, take care of ourselves and loved ones as best as we can, have loved and perhaps lost, wandered and despaired, started and finished things.

I realise that the dance of change is always ongoing, and how essential it is to reorient ourselves on a regular basis. How have we changed from before? Which parts of change have been welcome, which have felt painful? Recognising the raw edges and tender places can offer new possibilities and new wisdom to us. This has to do with the self care I spoke about a few weeks ago.

That's why I'm sharing some journaling questions for transitional times. You can use these prompts for a solo session, share them in writing or conversation with another person, or as the focus point for a group discussion if you have safe spaces where you can explore this together.

Reflection Questions

  1. What remains constant and reliable in your life?

  2. What sustains you during change?

  3. What does your inner shape shifter know about how to move with change?

  4. What wisdom emerges from the phase you are in? (reflect whether you (1) recently left the old behind, (2) are fully immersed in the unknown, or (3) already returning to some stability after a deep journey)

  5. When you're out in a choppy, stormy sea, where does the compass of hope point?

  6. Is there a notion of sacredness that can hold and embrace everything you experience?

  7. How do you stay in touch with that?

  8. What is the deep meaning you take a stand for/believe in, even if your surroundings don't reflect or honour that meaning?

  9. How can you move towards what you truly believe in?

Here are some of my musings ...

  1. the love for movement and nature

  2. time for reflection and ceremony

  3. something about the dance of yin and yang, a wheel that is always turning. In a way that is a relief, because 'this' too shall pass...

  4. that it's important to connect to like-minded others - who understand the journey, and that I cannot do this on my own

  5. to a bright place where everyone is able to live their magnificence without holding back, without reservation or shame

  6. yes, Yes, YES, the great mother is this place for me

  7. remembering to practise my practice, to show up especially when the going gets tough

  8. I'm an ambassador for the soul - believing that soul needs to infuse everything we do and create

  9. one step at a time

Even a 'simple' and quick reflection like this helps me slow down, feel connected, release pressure behind my eyes, and relax in the great river of life. If you want to share too - transition gently to the Seed Topic in the community! (free access to community here
