David Abram, The Spell of the Sensuous
Modern life keeps us so busy that it's hard to slow down and 'smell the roses', as they say. Nature is often nothing more than the place where we walk the dog or ride our bike, rather than something we consciously connect to.
In many Indigenous traditions, humans are understood as part of a wider living family that includes animals, rivers, weather, ancestors and the land itself. The word kinship speaks to this sense of relationship and belonging. It helps us recognise nature as a fabric that we are already woven into.
The Wild Kin Collective nourishes these threads and connections; between humans and with our more-than-human world. It offers a place for embodied reconnection, through weekly invitations to move outdoors, connect with natural images, and participate in the rhythms of life. It is not about escaping the modern world, but instead about learning how to wake up to the dance with life. It may be as simple as walking without headphones, noticing seasonal changes, or taking a moment to enjoy a sandwich beside the water...
Although creating an online community for nature connection might sound strange, I've witnessed the joy of being with like-minded people across the globe. I'm grateful for the unexpected ways that technology can help us gather around shared values and ways of seeing the world differently. With all that is going on in the world, it feels important to co-create spaces for direct, meaningful experience and exchange.
I really hope you'd like to actively take part in this..
Each week you’ll receive a new Practice of Belonging: a simple invitation to move, reflect and rekindle your connection with yourself and with nature. Alongside these weekly practices, the Collective includes:
an online community space away from social media
7–8 live online gatherings across the year inspired by the Celtic wheel
access to Move with the Seasons, a series of 10 Qi Gong workshops exploring the Yin and Yang energies of the five elements
an evolving archive of reflections, practices and inspiration to return to in your own rhythm
There is no requirement for constant online engagement. The invitations are designed to support depth, reflection and sustainable practice rather than pressure or productivity.
(if you're already a Qi Studio member, email me, as I will have to add you manually to the Wild Kin Collective if you'd like to join...)
The Wild Kind Collective is brand-new - it only opened its doors on May 22! However, read what people share about similar journeys with me...
I couldn’t be more grateful for the Move with Nature week! It was a valuable journey. What a joy to share space with each of the lovely souls who participate. You hold space in such a generous and well guided fashion. A deep bow of thanks!
What you are doing is deeply important. I believe it is from communities like these that a new kind of world will emerge — one built on attention to one another, with a completely different structure from the one we know today.
This course opened up a whole new area of possibilities to encounter nature and all her seen and unseen beings and energies for me. I will surely go on with dancing outside and inside for the insights in life and my own life.
This is an exciting, but also quite a 'vulnerable', step for me... People regularly ask “why should I pay for things when there is so much online for free?" Joining the Wild Kin Collective is a vote of confidence for a different way of being in relation together, and for building different, sustainable and inclusive structures. It's also a practical way to support my work as an independent teacher, writer and creator.
So, if this dream of kinship resonates with you, and my work has genuinely inspired or encouraged you over the years, it would mean so much to welcome you there.
With gratitude and joy!
Eline
