The Wisdom of Blossoming (9.5.26)

Blossoming takes time

Welcome to the first practice of the Wild Kin Collective! May we all blossom and thrive here... This invitation is about stepping into cyclic awareness.

Where do you observe 'blossoming' or 'thriving' inside or around you? You don't necessarily have to look for flower petals alone. You might see weeds pushing through cracks in the pavement, climbing plants extending toward light. Perhaps some leaves are still tightly furled while others opened abundantly to their full expression already.

Spring often looks effortless from the outside, but it is deeply connected to timing. A blossom opens in the right conditions, not because it forces itself (imagine a plant with gritted teeth: "I have to blossom NOW"). Each creature has its own cycle, some plants take years to produce one flower!

Movement invitation: Unfolding into the world

Play with your own sense of emergence, from a small space or bud. Maybe use a scarf or a coat to wrap yourself up, and notice what it feels like to be so enfolded. What parts of you feel safe, which are impatient to expand? Don't force any movement, but let it emerge gradually. Your breath deepens, your fingers wiggle, or your head lifts slowly. What is the blossom hiding within?

Explore different qualities of flowering, for example: A blossom opening after rain. A heavy bloom almost too full for its own stem. Wildflowers scattered by wind. Blossoms already drooping or wilting.

You can also move with the movement of blossoming . Reach toward sunlight. Turn away from harsh wind. Opening to receive warmth, wind, rain, pollinators.. Let your body respond to brightness, shelter or exposure.

Notice whether your body prefers expansion or cocooning. Do you enjoy being visible? Are you holding back? Might there be pleasure or vulnerability in opening more fully?

As always, there is no need to perform or create a beautiful looking movement. Explore what opening feels like from the inside and what sensations, feelings and thoughts emerge from that place. You might open a window. Let your posture soften, while drinking tea. Allowing yourself one moment of genuine delight when you notice colour, scent or beauty.

Deepening the weave

You might also reflect on where you are opening in your own life right now. What conditions help you soften, trust the process or unfold more naturally? Where do you still feel protective, hesitant or not ready yet? Are you (too) patient, or are you pushing growth?

The blossom is a threshold stage. What treasure are you keeping inside (your equivalent of nectar, pollen, scent, reproductive possibility, fruit-to-be)?

I can't wait to hear your reflections!
